Job Description
As R&D Manager, you will lead and further develop a close-knit and highly collaborative team of product developers. The team consists of three Senior Developers, two Medior Developers, and one Junior Developer, all working together in an open, supportive environment. The team is also highly international and diverse, with members from various backgrounds.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of the department. While this is not a Management Team position, you will act as the driving force within R&D, setting priorities, providing direction, and ensuring the team remains focused on the most impactful projects. The current team relies heavily on the expertise of the existing manager, making this a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys combining people leadership with technical authority.
You will be responsible for managing the full product development lifecycle, from concept generation and formulation development through to validation, scale-up, and commercial launch. Working closely with commercial colleagues, product management, quality, operations, customers, and external stakeholders, you will transform market trends and customer needs into innovative products.
As a visible ambassador for the organization, you will maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, communicate confidently about products and technologies, and generate enthusiasm around innovation opportunities. You will also stay informed about developments in healthcare products ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of the market.
This role requires a strong leader who can inspire others, establish clear priorities, and serve as a role model for the team, while also possessing sufficient technical expertise in cosmetic formulations, creams, gels, and related product categories to be a credible sparring partner for colleagues and customers alike.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, Laboratory Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience within R&D, product development, or formulation development environments.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience, preferably within an R&D or product development environment.
- Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulations, specifically creams, gels, and topical products and/or experience with OTC products, healthcare products, and/or medical devices.
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team while setting clear direction and priorities.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is not required.

Employment Conditions
• Gross monthly salary starting from €5,900 based on a 40-hour work week.
• Variable bonus scheme up to 10%, based on company and individual performance.
• Initial one-year contract with the intention of offering a permanent position.
• Flexible working schedule of 32 to 40 hours per week.
